Event Details
On the weekend of 23 and 24 May, 2026, a new off road event will be run by BSCC. While BSCC has a long history of successfully running off road events, this event is new both in terms of location – Miles, in the Western Downs – and in terms of the partnership we will leverage with the Australian Off Road Racing Association (AORRA) and the Australian Auto-Sport Association (AASA).
As the newest member club of AORRA in Queensland, a State level Long Course (Enduro) off road event has been offered to BSCC. This event “150 Miles” will be approximately 240 kilometre, two day event to be held at “Rakaia,” a property approximately 27 kilometres north of Miles and accessible via 7 kilometres of excellent shire gravel road from the Leichhardt Highway.
The property owner, Robert Parkinson, is known to many in the motorsport community; his previous property, Hirstglen, was the site of many rallysprint and offroad events over many years. Robert has used his experience to build a brilliant network of tracks of varying grades, a 30km loop of which is ideal for our first AORRA event.
I foresee Rakaia being the site of many events over the coming years – and not just off road racing!
A little background information is likely warranted at this point. Who is AORRA, for example?
The Australian Off Road Racing Association is a member driven association which, in conjunction with AASA, runs club, state, and national level off road events, both Enduro and Short Course. Performing a function analogous to Motorsport Australia’s Australian Off Road Commission (AORCom), AORRA specify the technical and sporting regulations under which club level events and state to national championships may be run, under AASA sanction.
The Queensland based clubs, running under AORRA, pride themselves on running family and competitor friendly events, well attended by competitors and spectators alike.
The Queensland State Championship, which in 2025 is sponsored by ARB and Mickey Thompson, will in 2026 consist of nine rounds. This will start with an Enduro event, the Gundy 250, to be held on a property to the east of Goondiwindi on 28 February and 1 March 2026. The calendar will conclude with a Short Course event to be held near Esk on October 10 and 11. All up, competitors will have nine events, five enduro and four short course, events to fill the calendar.
The “150 Miles” will be the fourth event on the calendar, and the third enduro event.
